Foodie Holiday Gift Guide

It's a very COVID Christmas!

Too soon? Sorry. And yet-I think we can all agree that we pretty much could all use some extra cheer this year. And my food loving heart thinks that the best gift is a tasty one. So I've rounded up some of my favorite food gifts that you can order online and send to your loved ones. I can attest (through personal experience) that all of these companies make delicious delicious food and whoever receives them is very lucky indeed.

Is this list a gift guide for you or a wish list for me? You decide.

Little Red Kitchen Bake Shop

This one is super exciting to me-I met Susan (the woman behind the Little Red Kitchen) back when we were just a couple food bloggers in NYC. And now she has a successful baking business! Everything she makes is all natural (no preservatives and nothing artificial!) and baked fresh to order with high quality and mostly organic ingredients. And they are DEEELICIOUS. Little Red Kitchen Bake Shop offers cookies, bars (like brownies!), hot chocolate mix, cookie kits, cookie pies, and even a cookie of the month club subscription (the perfect gift for any cookie lover). When they were just starting I was lucky enough to sample some of the cookies (peanut butter, s'mores, and their signature chocolate chip: YUM YUM YUM) and I just recently got to try their Rocky Road Cookie Pie and seriously....I am a dessert snob. SO SO GOOD. The cookie pie didn't even need warmed up to be moist and delicious (and I almost always warm up cookies). Little Red Kitchen Bake Shop ships nationwide when you order from their website but they also can be found at certain markets and stores in the NY area and they have recently started being sold on Amazon! Tons of options to give the gift of sweet.

Jeni's Splendid Ice Cream

Jeni's has my all time favorite ice cream. They originated in Columbus, Ohio (my home state) but have now expanded to various locations nationwide. Their ice creams are made with super high quality, whole ingredients are are fair trade/direct trade. Essentially it's artisan ice cream that meets really high standards and the company is awesome and the ice cream is crazy delicious. Salty Caramel is my absolute favorite but they have so many really cool and unique flavors, including consistent innovation with new seasonal and limited edition flavors rotated frequently. Jeni's is sold in lots of stores, there are scoop shops around the country, but you can also order online (including Jeni's cookbooks!) and-the ultimate gift for the ice cream fan in your life-they have a pint club:

"Every month, recipients receive a curated selection of four flavors (often before they’re on sale) delivered directly to their doorstep. Plus, to kick the subscription off right, the first shipment includes four of our signature flavors, a welcome letter with the ice cream delivery dates, and a set of our favorite ice cream spades. Giving Pint Club as a gift? We’ll help you keep it a surprise! Pint Club recipients will be notified of their membership with their first shipment."

Wafels and Dinges

When someone asks for recommendations on what to eat in NYC one of my first recommendations is Wafels and Dinges. They're also probably the #1 most missed food item for Michael and I. They're a bunch of food trucks (and they have a cafe now!) that serve Belgian liege waffles (extra sweet dessert waffles that are chewy and crisp and filled with pockets of caramelized sugar) with a bunch of different toppings-aka dinges-and they're heaven on earth. I have chronicled my missing them on social media and their brilliant social media team has sympathized and dangled the fact that they ship nationwide at me like a bright shiny dream. You can buy just waffles or a box that includes some of their popular toppings as well. Dear Santa, I've been super super good this year....

Imperfect Foods

I started using Imperfect Foods (if you use this link and decide to sign up you get $10/off your first box and I get $10 off mine as well!) a few months ago and I'm honestly just extremely impressed by them as a company and concept. Essentially they take food that would otherwise be wasted (for a variety of reasons such as cosmetic, discontinued labels, incorrect barcodes, surplus, etc. etc.) and sell it to us at a discounted rate. The people these foods come from aren't out the money, food isn't wasted, and we get really good stuff for less-it's honestly a win all around. There's no forced subscription (I always opt out of all future delivery dates then go back and opt in when I want a box) and you can choose what you get in your box. And they're offering holiday gift boxes this year that you can send to anyone in the US! Lots of tasty treats for only $24.99 (plus tax and shipping).

Levain Bakery

Levain cookies are famous and there is a good reason. This NYC bakery makes massive cookies that are perfectly underbaked and gooey on the inside but nice and sturdy (and almost biscuit like!) on the inside. They're incomparable and another one of my most missed NYC items. Which is why it's pretty fabulous that you can just order some online to give to someone you adore.

ButcherBox

ButcherBox is another subscription service that I actually tried out a few years back-I absolutely loved it, although I sadly haven't ordered in awhile! Their boxes feature 100% grass-fed, grass-finished beef; heritage-breed pork; free-range, organic chicken; and wild Alaskan salmon. You can get a mix or only a particular kind of meat and I can attest the quality is top notch and the prices are insanely reasonable. If you're the gift giver to a carnivore with high standards, I highly recommend giving a gift subscription!

Who doesn't love cookie dough?? DŌ is awesome (and another NYC based company!) because they have made edible cookie dough fun, chic, and so so delicious. And there's a ton of different gift options on their website so we really have no reason to not all be eating their cookie dough all holiday season.

Dana's Bakery

Another NYC based company (I found so many tasty things when I was there!)-Dana is a self professed mom-trepreneur and makes super creative and delicious macarons in a wide range of fun flavors (and she's introduced the Mookie-a macaron stuffed into a cookie. WHAAAAT?!) And there are so many fun things you can order for anyone else fun and cool that you may know. (Like me! Kidding...sorta lol.)

Disclaimer-I was not compensated in any way for including anything on this list. I did receive a free sample from Little Red Kitchen but was under no obligation to give a positive review. All opinions are, as always, my own.

Salted Browned Butter Chocolate Chip Cookie Dough Truffles
These are super sophisticated and extra delicious so they're a showstopper.

Chocolate Covered Potato Chips with Salted Caramel Drizzle

Bakery Style Chocolate Chip Cookies
This happens to be my favorite CCC recipe-it has browned butter and is so gooey and perfect.

These cookies are SO fudgy and chocolatey and are perfect for anyone who needs gluten-free and dairy free options. Plus the powdered sugar on them looks like snow sooo...festive!>

Brown Butter Cinnamon Coconut Cookies
For the non-chocolate lovers! Plus, the cinnamon tastes very Christmas-y.

Brown Butter Chocolate Stuffed Toffee Chip Cookies
Another family favorite! These are super amazing as is but you can also sort of play around with what you stuff in them and such also.

{No Spread, No Chill} Vanilla Cutout Cookies
THE BEST SUGAR COOKIE/CUTOUT COOKIE RECIPE! Seriously...it's all you need.

Salted Caramel Creme Brulee
Regular creme brulee is so dull compared to the rich decadence of this salted caramel version.

Homemade Mocha Pudding
Mini chocolate puddings (with a hint of coffee flavor) are a super classy holiday treat.

Mini Raspberry Swirl Cheesecakes
These little cheesecakes are so pretty and would be a hit with anyone you'd serve them to.

One of the most delicious things I've ever made-it will seriously impress anyone who tries it.

Molten Chocolate Lava Cake
And who doesn't love lava cake???

Chocolate Raspberry Ganache Pie
This is a surprisingly easy one considering how darned fancy it looks!

{No Bake} Chocolate Hazelnut Tart
Again, deceptively easy but freaking gorgeous!

Salted Caramel Pecan Pie
Why have normal pecan pie when you can have SALTED CARAMEL pecan pie??!

Salted Caramel Chocolate Chip Cookie Pie
Aaaand one of the most delicious pies ever.

World Vision Gift Catalog-Giving the Gift of Giving Back!

World Vision Gift Catalog-Giving the Gift of Giving Back!
Rosemary's family were given 5 goats through World Vision Gift Catalog, and that changed their lives

Thanksgiving is this week. And it's the time we think about all the things we have to be thankful for. But-we should also think about all of those who aren't as fortunate. That is why, today, I'm going to chat with you guys about World Vision and the amazing work they do--and how you can help families in need merely by ordering from a selection of beautiful, handcrafted, gifts via the World Vision Gift Catalog! You can pick from over 250 poverty-fighting gifts, ranging in price from $16 to $39,000, and as a result you're improving the quality of life for struggling children and families in the U.S. and around the world. The money raised from the purchase of these handcrafted gifts goes to the Where Most Needed fund, which supports a variety of World Vision’s programs around the world. (Of course there are also TONS options to just straight up donate or sponsor as well!) Last year alone, more than 650,000 people were helped through funds generated by the catalog-now THAT is the holiday spirit! <3

This video helps give you the run-down on the gift catalog and how it works! (Plus...it's a cute video)

OXO Holiday Gift Guide for the Cook/Baker

Christmas is quickly approaching. But perhaps you've still got some shopping to do? Is there someone in your life who is a food blog addict (or food blog-ger)? Someone who is constantly tuned to the food network or cooking channel? That person who impresses everyone with the fantastical things coming out of your kitchen? Or maybe there's someone who just wants to improve-someone who wants to try to get more comfortable in that crazy room we call a kitchen? Or someone who's moving into a new home? Heading out on their own for the first time? Getting married???

I'm just gonna cut to the chase: I've rounded up some of the best cooking/baking gift ideas. And all these gifts are made by one of my favorite brands-OXO (who are not in any way sponsoring this post. I just love them.) Some of the items listed here I already own, some I've registered for and am anxiously awaiting to join my little kitchen family, and some are just great basics to have!

Come with me and become someone's own, personal, Santa Clause:

OXO Holiday Gift Guide for the Cook/Baker

  1. OXO Knife Block Set, 10-Piece
Everyone should have a good knife block-it has all the basics you need (this one includes a chef's knife, santoku knife, bread knife, paring knife, serrated utility knife, and 4 steak knives). I'm jealous of the Santoku knife-they're great for chopping vegetables!
  2. OXO Good Grips Professional Sharpening Steel
This is to help you keep those knives you just bought sharp!
  3. OXO Good Grips 3-Piece Silicone Spatula Set
As low-tech. as it is, I love silicone spatulas. I use them so much and you can never have too many!
  4. OXO Good Grips Pop-Up Cookbook Holder
This is one of the things I registered for-it's a simple and pretty way to hold your cookbooks up.
  5. OXO Good Grips Kitchen and Herb Scissors
This is one of my favorite OXO tools that I own-I use these scissors for everything: cutting herbs, chicken, and even just opening pesky bags.
  6. OXO Good Grips Measuring Spoons, Stainless Steel, 4-Pc
To get your tsps. and tbsps. straight!
  7. OXO Good Grips Measuring Cup Set, Stainless Steel, 4-Pc
You need measuring cups and stainless steel means they'll be a bit more durable and won't melt in your dishwasher (I'm looking at you my-former-1/4-cup-that-is-now-ruined).
  8. OXO Good Grips 15-Piece Everyday Kitchen Tool Set
If someone is just starting out or getting into cooking this set is a great starter! It includes basic utensils, a peeler, a pizza cutter, potato masher, ice cream scoop, etc.
  9. OXO Good Grips Large Cookie Scoop
OXO Good Grips Medium Cookie Scoop
OXO Good Grips Small Cookie Scoop
When cookies are being made, cookie scoops are instrumental for uniform, pretty cookies. And sometimes you want small, medium, or large cookies! So obviously all 3 cookie scoops are needed.
  10. OXO Good Grips Rolling Pin
Another registry item! OXO's rolling pin is super gorgeous and high quality.
  11. OXO Good Grips 3-Piece Stainless-Steel Mixing Bowl Set, White
    Mixing bowls are another must-have.
  12. OXO Good Grips 3-Piece Angled Measuring Cup Set
I have 4 liquid measuring cups and I still sometimes find myself wishing I had more. So trust me-you want them.
  13. OXO Good Grips Dough Blender with Blades
Dough blenders help you when you're cutting butter into pastry-such as for pie or biscuit dough.
  14. OXO Good Grips Bent Icing Knife
If someone wants to try out a little bit of decorating/cake baking then a bent icing knife is a basic necessity.
  15. OXO Good Grips Stainless Steel Food Scale with Pull Out Display, 22-Pound
I also registered for this! I have a food scale but not one that goes up to 22 pounds or is as nice. I've heard and seen lots of recommendations for this scale so it's not just me backing it!
  16. OXO Good Grips 10-1/2-by-15-Inch Utility Cutting Board, Black
I love this cutting board. It's just great.
  17. OXO Good Grips Digital Instant Read Thermometer
Instant read thermometers are great for when you're trying to cook your meat perfectly.
  18. OXO Good Grips V-Blade Mandoline Slicer
This mandoline is about to make your slicing world a bunch easier.
  19. OXO Good Grips Potato Ricer
Potato ricers help make extra creamy and lovely mashed potatoes.
  20. OXO Good Grips Zester
I use my zester mostly for grating Parmesan cheese over pastas or pizza but it can also add gorgeous chocolate shavings to your desserts and add a zesty zing of citrus to your dishes.
  21. OXO Good Grips Box Grater
This is on my registry and I can't wait to get it because I hate having to deal with all the cheese that accumulates under the grater-so I love that this grater has an attachable container to help collect all the cheese so I don't have to scrape it all together with my hands.
  22. OXO Steel Pie Server
When I went shopping to buy a pie server I knew I wanted OXO and it didn't disappoint. I love how the sides of the server can help cut the pie and it just does a great job.
  23. OXO Good Grips Chopper
OK this one might be the registry item I am most anxious to receive--I am tired of spending bunches of time chopping things and this is going to make my life (and whoever's life you would buy this for) so much easier!
  24. OXO 10-Piece Good Grips Pop Containers Set
Food needs to be stored--flour and sugar, snacks, cereals, etc. OXO's Pop containers lock in the freshness with the fun little "Pop" button and come in a variety of sizes to help you organize and preserve your food! I have a Pop cookie jar and I LOVE it. :)
And there we are! I hope you found some great gift ideas and that you are having fun getting ready for the impending HOLIDAYYYYS! AND if you're looking for some great homemade gift ideas check out my posts from last year and the year before!

This post was not sponsored in any way by OXO. All opinions and thoughts expressed are my own. Post does contain Amazon Affiliate links.

JORD Watches Review

JORD Watches Review
I love my future father-in-law. He's more a part of my life than my actual dad. But he is SO HARD to shop for! Every year Michael and I agonize over the perfect Christmas gift for him, and we usually come up short. But not this year. This year I think he is going to be very happy with his gift, thanks to JORD watches!
JORD Watches Review
The word "jord" is Swedish for earth, soil, or land.
And Jord Wood Watches is all about an appreciation for natural elements, but with a modern design.

Made up of a collective of artists, designers, and seasoned watchsmiths, JORD watches not only incorporate wood-they feature it! The intricacy and multiplicity of the woods they use means each watch is one of a kind. And, a super sweet feature, on the website there is a JORD watch specialist there to chat with you if you have any questions or concerns!

JORD Watches Review
Michael's dad is classic and timeless-like the Fieldcrest watch (in black) that we got him. They ship the watch in a gorgeous box with a super stylish cushion to keep it safe and looking good. When you see and hold the watch there is no doubting the quality craftmanship. It is a beautiful, great, timepiece. (And, splash and scratch resistant--which is always awesome because...you know...life.)

La Piuma Bella Review

La Piuma Bella Review
La Piuma Bella...google translate tells me it means "the beautiful feather". And how fitting a name that is for this fantastic little shop. Feathers are one of a kind and evoke a feeling of fantasy-of flight. Plus...they're pretty. Just like all the things that La Piuma Bella sells!
La Piuma Bella Review
I knew that I wanted all of my bridesmaids to have a matching jewelry item as one of their gifts, as well as for them to wear in the wedding. And...since roses are something of a theme...I wanted something with roses. My first thought was necklace but, due to the necklines of the dresses we're looking at, necklaces wouldn't work. So then my thoughts jumped to earrings! And then I found La Piuma Bella and I fell in love.

Process peanuts until a ball forms. Add in chocolate. Continue to process until smooth. Add salt if desired.
Pour into a container and store in the refrigerator.
Homemade Holiday Gift Ideas-Part 2
And I also gave my cousin Emily this Homemade Dark Chocolate Walnut Butter.

Cookie Dough:
Homemade Holiday Gift Ideas-Part 2
I gave my brother, Josh, some frozen cookie dough balls from this recipe.
These two methods are particularly good ideas for giving cookie dough (I used the 1st one).
Make sure to include baking instructions with the dough, and keep them in the freezer!
For some ideas of cookie recipes to give as dough, click here.

Cookies:
Homemade Holiday Gift Ideas-Part 2
Giving cookies for Christmas is a classic! I used empty, clean, pringles cans to package the cookies I was gifting this year, and then I wrapped them in wrapping paper! So fun and easy. Just make sure that your cookies aren't too big to fit! Here are some great ideas for cookie recipes to gift this holiday season:

Homemade Holiday Gift Ideas-Part 2

This is still one of my favorites. Homemade vanilla extract is SO simple, and makes such an adorable gift! That little beauty up there was one of my gifts to my future MIL. :)

UncommonGoods is a privately owned retailer, started in 1999 and headquartered in Brooklyn, NY, and they "endeavor to feature unique designs and handcrafted gifts created in harmony with the

They have some of the most amazing, unique things. Anytime I'm stumped for gift ideas, Uncommon Goods is my first stop: they even have pages of their site specifically categorized by who you're buying for and/or what the occasion is! Oh yes. This is going to be good. If you like the idea of making some of your gifts this holiday season, I've listed a few ideas below:
