Buckeye Cake + Happy 1st Birthday to The Cooking Actress!

Buckeye Cake
WOW! The Cooking Actress is 1 year old today!
(and, coincidentally, my best friend is 21. Happy Birthday Alex!)
I can't believe it has only been a year! I remember debating whether I should start, resigning myself to the fact I would probably be the only one to look at it, and that my photos and site would just look awful.
But! In only a year I've managed to convince some of you crazy people to read, my photos have improved, I'm cooking and baking things I did not dream I'd be making (especially as often as I do), I've made some great friends, and this fun little blog of mine has consumed a piece of my life-and I couldn't be happier!

The Cooking Actress is going to her film premiere!

Hello my lovelies!

I just wanted to give you all the heads up that I will be out of town and away from the internet this entire weekend (I leave tomorrow morning).

I'll be in Maine-at the Lewiston-Auburn Film Festival, watching the world premiere of the feature film I was one of the stars in, You Can't Kill Stephen King.

I'm super duper excited, I filmed this movie nearly 2 years ago and now I'll finally get to see it! AND-it is already proving very successful, so I'm looking forward to lots more good stuff from it. Needed to fill you in, so you don't worry if I'm somewhat quiet this weekend. Don't fret though, I have a sweet treat all ready to be shared with you tomorrow morning.

Stay tuned ;).

25 Things About Me

One of the blogs I frequent, The Baker Chick, posted 25 things about her, and she said it's starting to circulate the blog community. Like her, I remember when that was a big thing on facebook, and I almost wrote it off. However, I think she has a point. How much do we really know about bloggers? If you're like me, you visit their blogs every day, eager to read and see if you can obtain a new recipe. And you barely know them. Seems silly. So, I'm going to join in!

My Birthday!!!

Yesterday-was my birthday! Not a big one, just 22 years, but nevertheless-I love my birthday :) I feel so old now, my mom was this age when she had me. This thought is what, I'm assuming, caused me to have a dream where I was pregnant the night before my birthday. Anyway, like I said-weird. I feel like I'm still only 16! (While simultaneously also being middle aged, what with all the cooking and housework and then relaxing on the couch with the boy-weird, I know.) Anyway, I thought-since food was a large portion of my day, and since this is a food blog, why don't I share it with you?

(I am not being reimbursed by any of the following places or things. I, in fact, gave them money...you know...for the pleasure to eat the yum yums. So please know all of this is just my experience and opinion.)

The perfect start to any good day is Godiva. I got some free chocolates (REWARDS CLUB!) and they also had a sale, so I bought some dark chocolate bars for future baking.

Hello There!

Hello! Welcome! Thank you for joining me on my little venture into food blogging. If you don't know me already, I feel I should let you know a bit about myself!

My name is Kayle Blogna and I was born, and grew up, in the small town of Massillon, Ohio. I went to Catholic school for 13 years (preschool all through high school), and then I knew I needed to get out of there. I have always wanted to be an actress, and knew I wanted to train and pursue that dream in New York City. Which is where I attended The New York Conservatory for Dramatic Arts-The School for Film and Television for 2 years, studying on camera acting. Now, I am graduated, am auditioning and working as much as I can, I shot a feature film last summer, etc. etc. (You can visit my website www.kayleblogna.com to learn more about my acting). I also do promotional modeling to make money. I have a wonderful boyfriend, Michael, who will be moving to New York this summer and will become my official recipe guinea pig (because he can eat and eat and lose weight, he will keep me from blowing up from all my yummy creations). My favorite color is red, I love roses, African elephants, TV, movies, Disney (especially princesses), vampires (I love the Twilight books, hate the movies), and oh of course cooking. How did I get obsessed with that you ask?

I am Italian on my Dad's side (Sicilian and Northern Italian...that's where my last name, Blogna, comes from), and Irish and German on my Mom's side (the German genes seem to not have come out in me at all). I got the bum end of being Italian, instead of having a wonderful Italian mother who cooked for me constantly (like Michael's Mom, lucky boy), I just got an Italian father (who expects to be cooked for, but not so much in doing it himself). I love my mother, but she doesn't enjoy cooking. I, however, always was interested in cooking, baking, etc. I used to make blueberry muffins using the Jiffy mix and pretend I was on my own cooking show. My favorite (only thing I liked) part of going over to the Blognas was watching and helping my grandma make homemade pasta, wedding soup, scapellis (something that no one seems to have heard of, but they're amazing, let me tell you),etc. After moving to New York, I steadily got more and more into cooking, especially when I started becoming a little healthier (don't get me wrong, I still love cookies, I just try to have as few processed things, etc.). Recently, this has expanded into a food blog/recipe collecting obsession, and now I decided-I'll just do it! You'll find I love chocolate, peanut butter, carbs, chicken, and pretty much deliciousness.

I hope you enjoy this blog, enjoy the recipes, enjoy my banter, and enjoy eating! Thank you for being here and reading this silly blog about a Cooking Actress!

P.S. As I am by no means a professional food blogger (unfortunately), I apologize for the very basic website, and for the not so awesome pictures taken by either the digital camera I got for my 18th birthday, or by my phone (which is not one of those cool phones with a super amazing camera). So, ya know, apologies. Head on over to one of the blogs listed there on your right after you're done looking over here, you can enjoy a pretty blog over there! :P

P.P.S. If I ever mention a brand name, unless otherwise noted, assume they are not paying me and I am not officially endorsing them. I just want to be honest with you about what I used. Thanks :)
